Privacy Policy

This explains what Padel Kourta collects, why, and what happens to it. It's written to be read, not to protect Padel Kourta. If anything is unclear, just ask.
The short version
- Padel Kourta collects your email, your name and profile, and your match data.
- You can connect with friends. Matches you play with a linked friend are shared to their history too.
- Your heart rate never leaves your device. It goes to Apple Health, not to Padel Kourta.
- Padel Kourta does not sell your data, and never will.
- You can delete your account and all your data at any time.
Who runs Padel Kourta
Padel Kourta is operated by Sam Boon, an individual (sole trader) based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Sam Boon (trading as Padel Kourta) is the data controller.

What Padel Kourta collects, and why
Your account

If you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, Padel Kourta receives your email address, and (on your first sign-in only) your name. The app never receives your password. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, only the relay address is ever visible.
Your matches

Player names you type are just text by default, and aren't linked to anyone. You can choose to link a player to a friend's account (see below). When you do, a match you play together is shared to that friend, so it appears in their history too.
Connecting with friends

Connecting is always two-sided: a request has to be accepted before you're linked, and a match is only shared with a friend who actually played in it. A connected friend can see the matches you played together, their result, and your head-to-head record from their side. They cannot see any of your other matches. You can remove a connection, or unlink a player, at any time in the app.
Notifications
If you turn on notifications, Padel Kourta stores a device token from Apple so it can tell your device when a friend shares a match with you. The token identifies the device, not you, and is used only to deliver these notifications. Turn them off in Settings → Notifications → Padel Kourta and the token is no longer used.
Health data (Apple Watch)
Your health data never reaches Padel Kourta's servers.
If you switch on Record workout, the watch reads your heart rate, active energy and distance while you score, and writes the workout to Apple Health on your device. That's it. It is not transmitted to Padel Kourta, and cannot be seen.
You can turn it off at any time, in the app, or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
What Padel Kourta doesn't collect
- Your location. (The "venue" is just text you type.)
- Third-party analytics or usage tracking.
- Your contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Where your data is kept
Your account and match data are stored with Supabase, who host the database on Padel Kourta's behalf. The data is hosted in Ireland, within the European Union.
Supabase acts as a data processor, they process data on Padel Kourta's instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes. Their privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy.
International transfers
Padel Kourta is based in the United Kingdom, and your data is stored in Ireland. This is a transfer outside the UK, so it needs a legal basis.
The UK Government has made an adequacy decision for the EU, which means the EU is recognised as providing an equivalent standard of data protection to the UK. Your data therefore receives the same protection in Ireland as it would in the UK, and no additional safeguards are required.
Security
Your data is protected by row-level security. Your matches can only be read by your own account, with one exception: a match you play with a linked friend can also be read by that friend, because they were in it. Nobody else can see your matches. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
How it's used
Your data is used to:
- Show you your matches, statistics and profile
- Sync your data between your iPhone, Apple Watch, and any device you sign in on
- Let you connect with friends, and share matches you play together to their history
- Let you share a match result, only when you choose to
Padel Kourta does not:
- Sell your data to anyone
- Use it to train anything
- Send you marketing emails
Sharing a match
When you tap Share result, the app creates an image on your device and hands it to iOS's share sheet. It is never uploaded and never seen by Padel Kourta. Where it goes , WhatsApp, Messages, your camera roll, is entirely your choice, and governed by that app's own privacy policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Requests are answered within one month. If you're unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office , ico.org.uk, though raising it with Padel Kourta first is preferred, so it can be put right.
How long it's kept
As long as your account exists. Delete your account and your data is deleted with it. Nothing is retained afterwards.
Children
Padel Kourta isn't aimed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect data from them.

That's the complete list of third parties Padel Kourta currently shares data with.
If that ever changes, for example if advertising is introduced, this policy will be updated and you'll be told in the app before it happens.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated. If the change is significant, you'll be told in the app.
